The climax of my novel was the failure of Pickett’s Charge and the retreat of the Confederates from Gettysburg. The resolution is after the retreat, and includes the destruction of most of the rebel army, and the Union victory. The message that I saw was that victory comes at a high cost and this is shown by the high casualties sustained by both armies. The main characters in this novel are round characters. They are all courageous and smart, and no matter which army they belong to, they adamantly believe in their cause. I was satisfied with the end of this novel because it was historically accurate, but it was expressed in a dramatic way. This novel is very believable, because it is historically accurate story, but it also gives a look at the realistic traits of the characters. I would recommend this novel to a friend because it is enjoyable and entertaining to read, but also teaches a lot about the battle. This novel met my expectations because it was entertaining and hard to put down. What I liked most about this novel was the fight scenes because they were very realistic and detailed. What I liked the least was that the point of view jumps between characters and makes it hard to follow.
